Abstract

This study aims to find out about the production process in injection molding Machines, analysis of production defects in injection molding machines, as well as maintenance and repair of molds. Data collection was conducted through direct observation techniques, interviews, and review of relevant documents. The data obtained are then analyzed by applying the stages of data reduction, information presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that the injection molding process offers a variety of advantages over other plastic manufacturing methods. However, in practice, this process still faces a number of product defects, such as products attached to the mold (mold), cracks (crack), excess material (flashing), and lack of filling (short). Handling damage to the mold is classified into two types, namely periodic maintenance (preventive maintenance) and repair (repair). Based on the observation of the author, the most common damage to mold components is the bending of the ejector pin and the appearance of flashing due to the gap between the cavity and the less dense core
