This research discusses the effectiveness of the metal cutting process using the gas cutting method in field work activities, especially comparing between copy cutting machines and CNC machines. Gas cutting is a technique that is often used in the manufacturing sector to cut metal materials such as steel. The main objective of this study was to analyze the scrap, cutting rate, cutting duration, and various factors that affect operational efficiency. The findings show that CNC machines have a better efficiency rate of about 2% than copy cutting machines, especially in large productions. If the small production is below 10, it is better to use a copy cutting machine if the production of the product is above 10, it is better to use a CNC machine. However, the copy cutting machine still works well for small production runs. Suggestions are given to improve the cutting process, including training for operators and increased teamwork
