Abstract

Floor slab construction is a critical structural component in building systems, responsible for transferring dead and live loads to the supporting structural elements. In hospital buildings, this work requires strict quality control due to its direct impact on structural safety and long-term functional performance. This study aims to describe the implementation of floor slab construction in the development of   Hospital and to identify the constraints encountered and the solutions applied during the construction process. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, with data collected through direct field observations and project documentation. The results indicate that floor slab construction involved preparation works, installation of formwork and reinforcement, casting of ready-mix concrete with a compressive strength of fc’ 29.05 MPa, compaction using mechanical vibrators, and concrete curing for approximately seven days. The main challenges identified included unpredictable weather conditions, limited site access, and uneven concrete placement. These challenges were mitigated through work schedule adjustments, enhanced technical supervision, and the application of corrective measures in accordance with applicable standards
